Denver ranked No. 2 on U.S. News & World’s Report list of best places to live
In a new analysis of the 125 best places to live in the United States, Denver landed second on the list behind Austin, Texas. Colorado Springs was name No. 3.
“Denver’s a great place to live because our residents have worked hard to make that way,” said Mayor Michael B. Hancock in response to this ranking. “It’s phenomenal that Colorado’s two biggest cities are in the top three best places to live, but it’s no surprise — we’re pretty great.”
On a scale of 1-10, Denver ranked as the following:
- Desirability: 8.8
- Value: 6.7
- Job market: 7.9
- Quality of life: 7.0
- Net migration: 7.6
Three Colorado cities named ‘Top Tech Towns’ in the U.S.
Colorado’s tech scene is rapidly growing, and the growth is not limited to just Denver and Boulder.
According to a new study released Tuesday by CompTIA, the trade association for the IT industry, three Colorado cities were named top 20 tech towns in the U.S.
Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs each garnered recognition in the report that ranked cities based on quality of life for tech workers, salaries, job availability, job growth and cost of living.
Denver topped the list for Colorado cities, ranking No. 8, with Boulder at 19 and Colorado Spring close behind at 20.
Denver Jumps to 6th Fastest Growing City
Forbes publishes its latest annual ranking of the nation’s 20 fastest growing cities in terms of population and economic growth — and Denver jumped 10 places with many people relocating to Colorado’s metro area.
Metro Denver ranks No. 6 in Forbes’ 2014 estimation, up from No. 16 on the 2013 list.
Forbes says Denver’s population growth rate was 1.75 percent last year, but the ranking isn’t solely based on population increase.
Forbes also took into account 2013 job-growth rates, growth in gross metro product (each city’s goods and services), unemployment rates and median salaries for college-educated workers in comparing the 100 largest U.S. metro areas.
